Ryan Lei

Ryan (Zhijun) Lei is a Software Engineer and Video Codec Specialist on the Video Infrastructure team at Meta. He spearheaded the rollout of AV1 encoding and delivery for Facebook and Instagram Reels, enabling higher-quality, bandwidth-efficient video experiences across billions of users. More recently, Ryan contributed to integrating super-resolution and advanced AV1 encoding into Meta's Restyle tool. He also co-chairs the AOMedia Codec Testing Subgroup, shaping next-generation royalty-free video standards.
